BP Monitor is Now BP Lite.
BP Monitor v1.0
I have always loved tinkering. I love learning new things and pushing myself to do things I know I should not be able to do. I first started dabbling with Xcode, Objective-C, and UIKit back in 2009. I never really got that far and eventually lost interest. One day, I noticed that Apple was promoting a new programming language called Swift, and I was excited once again. I took the time to start toying around with it, and BP Monitor was the app that came from that interaction. I was proud of what I made at the time, even though today I see all the shortcomings it had. I was happy and proud to post about it:
1/11/20: You can teach an old dog new tricks. Another item can now be checked off my bucket list. After many mistakes and wrong turns, I can finally say I made an app, and it’s available in the iOS App Store. It’s nothing fancy, just a simple app to track your blood pressure. The journey to get here has been exciting sometimes and frustrating at other times. The knowledge I have gained makes me realize just how little I really know. The motivation is still here, and I look forward to my next project.
BP Monitor v2.0
A year and a half later, after noticing a numerous errors, I released a second version created using SwiftUI. Visually, I thought it looked better (haha). I also wrote about that:
5/29/21: A year later, and every single day, I realize how much more I need to learn. During that time, I updated BP Monitor using SwiftUI, which I found to be both fun and frustrating. My biggest problem was making things harder than they had to be. Over complicating something, when a simple solution existed. Little bugs here, little bugs there, they seemed to pop up all over the place. Hopefully, I have found most of them. I still have a long way to go, but I really enjoy challenging myself while learning something new.
BP Lite v1.0
Finally, the latest version is here! I believe it’s a significant improvement over the previous versions. I’ve identified and fixed several problems. I’m genuinely proud of this version, and I hope it helps someone monitor their blood pressure easily and effectively.
